Our VOGELBALL takes place after the CSD and is not only a one-day rave in Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg – but also a place of visibility for the local queer scene. The joyous feather spectacle is one of the few events in Hamburg, involving international queer acts. We also want to let the event and all its channels draw attention to queer issues.
We wish for a peaceful coexistence as well as openness and goodwill towards the involved scenes as a prerequisite for a visit to the VOGELBALL and thus strive for a collective-playful approach to social norms: A dazzling escape from reality starting at daylight and continuing deep into the night.
We do not tolerate sexist, homophobic, transphobic, racist, nationalist or otherwise discriminating behavior and our trained awareness team has a special eye on this. This Masquerade Ball of Diversity is not a designated safe space, as we are not only targeting a queer audience, but also a queer-friendly audience, and thus want to be a place of encounter; however, we have and keep building awareness structures and welcome everyone’s honest feedback to help us improve.
We support colorful feather and bird costumes and also offer booths that correspond to them; but at the same time we want to explicitly point out that we cannot accept disguises that remind of indigenous headdresses.
Do you have feedback or questions? Feel free to send us an email at presse@kopfundsteine.de.
Shuttle buses:
Starting from the Wilhelmsburg S-Bahn station at the bus stop “Am Inselpark”, there is a free shuttle that will take you near the grounds from 4pm. From there it is a short signposted walk to the event area. For the way back there will also be a shuttle from 22:30. The way to the departure point is signposted at the Wollkämmereistraße like last year. To do so, simply follow our signs or ask our staff.
By bike:
Attention: After 6 p.m. there may be long waiting times at the elevators at the Old Elbtunnel, as the large freight elevators are no longer in operation. Therefore, please use an alternative route if you arrive later and for the way back, e.g. through the Hafencity and then over the Freihafen Elbe Bridge. At the site you can park your bikes on our signposted bike parking spaces – please use these and not the construction fences. There will also be a guarded bicycle parking area (Fahrradhotel).
By taxi:
If you arrive by cab, please use the following address: “Schluisgrove/Schlengendeich” – Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg. From there, walk in the direction of Alte Schleuse, pass the white bridge and then come to the entrance.
By car:
Getting to the festival area by car is not recommended. There will be very limited parking spaces near the site. It is more eco-friendly and relaxed to use public transport and bicycle.
The VOGELBALL opens its gates for you at 4 pm. The spectacle ends at 7 next morning.
Backpacks & Bags:
Small bags, gym bags, and burlap bags may be brought onto the grounds. The less stuff you have with you, the faster you will get through the entrance.
Lockers:
We have a limited number of paid lockers available for you.
Drinks and food you take with you:
All visitors are allowed to take one glass-free drinking vessel up to 1,5l with non-alcoholic beverage content as well as one empty drinking bottle (no glass!) onto the festival grounds. Drinking water will of course be available free of charge on the festival grounds.
You are welcome to bring snacks with you, real meals will be available on the festival area. Vegetarians and vegans are also welcome.
Professional recording equipment:
In general, no sound or video recordings are allowed on the festival grounds and consequently any violation will be prosecuted. All recordings made without the explicit permission of the organizer or the artists are prohibited.
Drones:
Within the scope of our house rules, unmanned aerial systems (drones) are prohibited from taking off, flying or landing.
Weapons:
Weapons of any kind have no place at all at our events.
Fireworks, Bengalos, Laser Pointers, Pressure Vessels:
Pyro objects and laser pointers are prohibited on the festival grounds. Exciting shows are provided by the artists. You must also leave pressurized containers (e.g. deodorants and hairspray) at home.
Racism/sexism/homophobia/harassment:
Nazis have to stay outside! Furthermore, racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic and other harassment will be punished immediately and will end with a ban from the festival area. Prohibited symbols in any form, propaganda material, right-wing extremist music and slogans as well as extremist and unconstitutional behavior of any kind are strictly prohibited!
We want to make it possible for every visitor to move freely on the festival area. The festival area is a fallow and meanwhile green industrial area, which we will prepare in the best possible way for everyone.
If you have a “B” in your ID card, you can bring an accompanying person free of charge. Just buy your ticket and show your ID at the entrance.
There are barrier-free toilets, which are only available to people with a Eurokey. Authorized persons can also borrow this key for a deposit at the backstage gate (in the direct vicinity of the barrier-free toilet) or at the guest list/evening box office.
This year, too, there will of course be an awareness concept so that everyone feels comfortable and safe at the event. The concept for VOGELBALL 2023 is currently being developed and will be presented here soon. We are always happy to receive feedback. Please send an email to presse@kopfundsteine.de.
The provisions of the Youth Protection Act apply. Parents or guardians decide on the participation of young people in the festival. This is derived from the personal care law and the law for the protection of minors of the German Civil Code (BGB). According to this law, legal guardians have the duty to care for their underage child and ultimately decide whether to allow them to participate in the festival. On site, the generally applicable Youth Protection Act applies with regard to the serving of alcoholic beverages and the distribution of tobacco products. If children or young people are found smoking or drinking during a youth protection check, they can be expelled from the festival and sent home.
Children 12 years and older need a ticket for their visit at VOGELBALL. Festival participants* under the age of 16 may only be on the festival grounds when accompanied by their legal guardians or with written permission from them and the additional accompaniment of a parent/guardian.
After midnight, young people between the ages of 16 and 18 are required to carry written permission from their legal guardians. This written permission is only valid with a copy of the identity card of the legal guardian.
